In a bold rebranding effort, Rep. Wendell Kloss unveiled legislation Tuesday to officially rename legislative gridlock as “strategic patience,” arguing the current term “carries unfair negative connotations.”
“Nothing is stuck,” Kloss told reporters. “We are simply allowing democracy to breathe. For six years.”
The bill itself has not moved out of committee, which Kloss says is “exactly the point.”
Colleagues on both sides of the aisle praised the renaming as “the first bipartisan achievement in recent memory,” though several admitted they hadn’t read the bill and weren’t planning to.
At press time, the strategic patience caucus had grown to eleven members, none of whom could agree on a meeting time.
